I am 29 years of age and am a qualified social worker who is passionate about helping people. I am compassionate, empathetic, driven, dependable and while I’m knowledgeable of my strengths, I’m also mindful of my limits and I’m continuously working on them. I believe everyone is a work in progress and given the space, time and support, we can achieve anything we put our minds to.
I am 29 years of age. I have a BPsych degree majoring in Psychology andI am passionate about helping people to help themselves. Philosophy which taught me to be a critical thinker and be more understanding and accepting of others- even and especially when I don’t agree with them or share the same values as they do. So long as they don’t infringe on anyone else’s rights or threaten their livelihood then I take step back and try to understand them better.
i have a BSocial Work degree where I also took Psychology and Anthropology modules that assisted in reinforcing some of the lessons I got from my first degree. To be more patient with others, understand that we all have a history and rich heritage that shapes who we are, how we think and act and the people we are.
I have experience with working with at risk teens from impoverished communities that are riddled with crime and gangsterism. This is where I learned that in as much as these communities and their members might be living under undesirable conditions and have a number of problems, they also have so much good. I learned to have an asset based mindset when working with people and try not to see them as victims but to rather see the good. As a therapist or practitioner, you are not aiding anyone by playing superhero and swooping in to save the day. Your role is to assist people to identify their strengths and encourage and empower them to be active participants in their journey to improve their lives- in whatever sense that may look like for them.
