I am a clinical psychologist and addiction counsellor with a PhD in integrative care for dual diagnosis patients (patients with a diagnosis of substance abuse disorder and an accompanying mental illness/ disorder). The focus of my PhD was developing a culturally sensitive approach for integrative therapy for dual diagnosis patients that considers the cultural and social peculiarities of the Middle East and Gulf region. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and also a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and adhere to its code of ethics in my clinical work.

I have previous experience working in several outpatient and inpatient settings in Egypt and with clients from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds. I have previously worked as a primary case manager in several inpatient addiction rehabilitation hospitals in Egypt.

In addition to my private work as a clinical psychologist, I am currently the therapeutic director at Dar Erada psychiatric hospital in Cairo, Egypt, where I am applying the conclusions and recommendations of my doctorate in designing and implementing a rehabilitation program for addicts and dual diagnosis patients.

I am adept at applying the MATRIX outpatient addiction rehabilitation program. I also use a wholistic approach in working with clients with various addictions and dual diagnosis patients, this approach also brings in family members and care givers, and in my experience has significantly improved the clinical outcomes for such cases.

I received my training in CBT from the Beck Institute in the United States. In addition to CBT, I also utilize motivational interviewing and psycho-education in working with my clients and their families. Furthermore, I have also attended workshops on Trauma therapy, Somatic experiencing and counselling clients suffering from PTSD.

As a therapist I care deeply about the wellbeing of my clients, and I am very involved in the therapeutic process due to a deeply held belief that people who suffer from addiction and chronic psychiatric conditions can turn their lives around and become productive members of society and can learn to live with their condition.

Moreover, I am passionate about therapy and counselling, and I strongly believe that helping people improve their lives and escape mental illness is a noble profession.
